PETER CURRIE - CHAIRMAN, DIRECTOR
Mr. Currie joined the board in December 2009. He was previously chair of the board for Atomic Energy of Canada, Limited and a director for Arise Technologies Corporation, Affinion Inc., Intelius Inc. and Canadian Tire Corporation, a former member of the Board of Governors and chair of Finance and Audit Committee for York University and a former director of York University Development Corporation. He was also previously chair of the board for Symcor Inc. and a director for CD Howe Institute, Toronto East General Hospital and Quinte Healthcare Inc.. He is currently a Commissioner at the Ontario Securities Commission and a director of Kemptville District Hospital and Victorian Order of Nurses Canada. Mr. Currie holds a Bachelor of Economics degree and an MBA from York University.
PhilIP Deck - Director
Mr. Deck joined the Board in September, 2016, He is the CEO of Extuple, an investor in public and private technology companies. Previously, Mr. Deck served as the Executive Chairman of MKS Inc., a TSX-listed enterprise software company that was acquired in May 2011 for $304 million by PTC Inc. Mr. Deck joined MKS in 2001 as CEO to lead its restructuring and renewal, transforming the former software development tools company into a leader in enterprise software application lifecycle management. Prior to MKS, Mr. Deck was Chairman and CEO of Certicom Corp. from 1993 to 1999, subsequently acquired by Research in Motion. Mr. Deck has served as a director of the Bank of Canada from 2006 until 2014. Mr. Deck holds a degree in economics from Queen.s University, Kingston.
Andrew Olsen - Director
Mr. Olson joined the Board in July 2013. He currently serves as Sky PLC’s Executive Vice President for Strategic Innovation. Previously at Sky he led the development of the award-winning Sky Q TV and Broadband platform, and prior to Sky served as COO of Comcast's Converged Products group, and as COO and CFO of thePlatform™ a leading online video management and publishing company he co-founded. This entrepreneurial success led Mr. Olson to named one of the "25 All Stars" of the first decade of digital media by StreamingMedia.com. Mr.Olson’s diverse background also includes a role at Microsoft, digital audio development for top companies in the U.S. and Japan, co-founding two biotechnology companies, and three years with The Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Olson has an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a degree in voice from the Musician's Institute of Technology in California.
Arun Netravali - Director
Dr. Netravali joined the Board in May 2016. He is regarded as a pioneer in the field of digital video technology. Currently, Dr. Netravali is the managing partner of Omni Capital and was previously a director of various companies including Agere Systems, Level 3 Communications and LSI. Dr. Netravali was the President of Bell Laboratories, a division of Lucent Technologies, from 1999 to 2002, and was the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Network Architect at Lucent Technologies Inc. Dr. Netravali authored over 200 technical papers, co-authored three books, and holds 100 patents. Dr. Netravali has won numerous awards, including the Padma Bhushan Award from the Indian President in 2001 and the U.S. National Medal of Technology in 2002. Dr. Netravali was an adjunct professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has taught graduate courses at City College (N.Y.), Columbia University, and Rutgers University. He received his undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India, and masters and doctorate degrees from Rice University, all in electrical engineering. He holds an honorary doctorate from the École Polytechnique Férale in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Tom Hearne - Director
Mr. Hearne joined the board in Sept, 2014. He is the Chief Financial Officer of theScore Inc., a publicly listed Canadian digital media company. Mr. Hearne brings a wealth of experience as a business and operations oriented CFO in the public markets having completed four going public transactions on various exchanges including the TSX, AIM, and NASDAQ. He has been instrumental in ten merger and acquisition transactions with his most recent involvement in the sale of Score Television Network to Rogers Media. Tom's prior experience includes CFO roles at high growth technology companies including Redline Communications and OpenText Corporation. Mr. Hearne is a Chartered Accountant and holds a MBA from the Schulich School of Business.
Fred Shlapak - Director
Mr. Shlapak joined the Board in February, 2017. He is Chairman at SiGe Semiconductor, Inc. and is also on the Board of Directors at Applied Micro Circuits Corp. Mr. Shlapak was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Semiconductor Products Sector at Motorola Corporation when he retired in February 2004. Mr. Shlapak's 33-year career at Motorola also included leading the company's Canadian semiconductor operations. Later, Mr. Shlapak moved to Europe where he held roles of increasing responsibility that culminated with him leading Motorola's European semiconductor group while living in Geneva, Switzerland. He also served on the board at Tundra Semiconductor Corp. and Gennum Corp. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Waterloo and a graduate degree from The University of Waterloo.
SOHAIL KHAN - DIRECTOR
Mr. Khan joined ViXS as President and CEO in September, 2015. Prior to ViXS, Mr. Khan was President and CEO of SiGe Semiconductor, a private fabless semiconductor company that achieved the top market share position in a highly competitive segment, eventually being acquired by Skyworks Solutions. Mr. Khan has more than 30 years of experience in public, private and global companies, including the spinout and IPO of Agere Systems from Lucent Technologies, the largest technology IPO on the NYSE. Mr. Khan has also held several senior executive positions at Agere Systems and Lucent Technologies, managing global Semiconductor/IC and Optical divisions. He is currently on the board of two NASDAQ listed companies including Intersil Corporation and Lightpath Technologies, Inc. Mr. Khan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.
