SMART TRANSCODING

A video transcoder takes video in one format and converts it into a different format with the goal of bit-rate reduction, resolution change and/or format conversion. Our products enable quick conversion between formats for playback on mobile devices and reduction in bit-rate and resolution for delivery over IP networks. Additionally our “fit-to-disk” feature ensures the content fits on the storage medium while bit-rate and resolution adjustments allow for storage space savings. The diagram below highlights the complexity of the smart transcode process and the many possible combinations of inputs and outputs to the transcoding engine required to support consumer requirements.

TRANSCRYPTION

Transcryption is the ability to protect and convert content across and between different security and DRMs. We are a market leader in protecting digital media by integrating advanced encryption/decryption blocks to support multiple CA and DRMs to work in conjunction with its powerful video processing engine. We intend to incorporate the most advanced security and video protection features in our products, and we intend to increase our development of and support for transcrypting technology, CA and DRMs by expanding customized hardware support for a broader range of protection algorithms. We are also improving our hardware protection features to enhance the security of content. We plan to create new hardware to address more security applications, to augment existing hardware to protect keys and to develop more complex authorization schemes and improved and extended intelligence to recover from security breaches. In contrast to other SoCs in the market today, which typically are designed to meet specifically the security requirements of only one market segment, our transcryption engine has been designed to offer maximum flexibility and security across many market segments and technologies.

Video Quality of Service (VQoS)

ViXS VQoS dynamic bit-rate adjustment technology is currently the only solution that guarantees video quality over networks with bandwidth fluctuations. VQoS ensures that the video bit-rate never exceeds the available network bandwidth, ensuring stutter-free video regardless of network fluctuations. Our VQoS supports single or multiple high definition and standard definition (“SD”) video streams throughout the home, displaying high-quality video anywhere, on any device, from any source.

MPEGPerfection™ Encoding

MPEGPerfection™ encoding technology is setting the standard for HD analog video compression. With the ability to encode to HD or SD resolutions, at different frame rates, at different bitrates and a wide array of video formats, ViXS’s MPEGPerfection™ encoding is a powerful and flexible technology for manufacturers of smart entertainment devices. It has defined low-bitrate HD compression without compromising video quality.
