CASE STUDIES

Sharp

Sharp AQUOS Blu-Ray recorders for the Japanese market are equipped with hard disk drives with capacities upto 1TB, a Blu-Ray dual Layer recorder, a dual Digital TV Tuner plus one additional Analog TV tuner. Sharp BD Aquos Recorders provide video compression rates upto 8.5x , support for BD authoring to BD disks, and support to transfer content to mobile phones.
ViXS provides the video compression technology to allow for 8.5x compress, support for PVR recording of content, MPEG encoding, multimedia conversion for mobile phone playback and networking support for BD live and ARIB-Uplink.

Toshiba

The Toshiba HD recorders have built HDD upto 2 TB of storage, dual digital tuners, DVD authoring support and analog video compression.  The Toshiba HD recorders provides upto 7x compression, with the ability to store over 3 hrs of full HD or more than 10 hrs of SD content on one standard 4.7GB DVD recordable disk.
Toshiba’s HD PVR can store upto 1322 Hrs of extended content storage on a 2 TeraByte HDD while providing a playback experience that matches the original live broadcast.

ViXS provides high speed HD MPEG2 to HD MPEG4 AVC, HD MPEG4 AVC to HD MPEG4 AVC transcoding of protected broadcast ISDB content.

TiVO Series 3

ViXS provides Dual MPEG encoding of broadcast analog video.

Pioneer

The Pioneer HDD/BD recorders employ the latest movie compression technology - MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 - that features a greater compression rate than MPEG-2. This enables the recorders to record high-definition broadcasts in the high resolution of 1980 x 1080 for about five times longer than with previous Pioneer models onto the hard drive: upto about 450 hours with the
BDR-WD900 and upto about 220 hours with the BDR-WD700.

ViXS provides transcoding of HD MPEG2 ISDB-T/BS/CS broadcast streams to HD MPEG4 AVC for increased storage capacity.
